Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi looks set for an extended spell on the sidelines after limping out of Germany’s 5-1 World Cup qualifying win over Azerbaijan.
Mustafi was forced off after just 36 minutes in Kaiserslautern with what coach Joachim Low described as a severe muscle injury.
“I think Mustafi has a muscle tear. It looks a bit more serious.” Low said. “This will probably force him to have an extended layoff.”
Now where does this leave Arsenal at the back? Wenger did give Arsenal fans some great news before international matches started hinting Koscielny may be back against Watford. After suffering a shocking start to the season with injury Koscielny did not travel for international duties after requiring daily treatment on his achilles.
If Koscielny is not back against Watford that will leave Arsenal with Metersacker to start at CB let’s face it it’s not a bad option he gets the job done. Monreal will start at LB with Holding favorite at RB ahead of Chambers.
