Another home game where we faced the toffees. We were on a good run after 4 victories on the trot & everyone expected us to get 3 points at home. The lineup Emery chose was probably our best with Torreira finally getting his first start in premier league as he replaced Guendouzi. Rest of the lineup was same from our last league game.
First half was very sloppy by us as we kept inviting pressure from Everton by giving the ball away repeatedly. We couldn’t control the game at all. Cech was brilliant as he kept us in the game by making numerous top class saves. Torreira was impressive but got the yellow in first 15 minutes so he was playing with caution. Mustafi, Xhaka, Ramsey & Özil were all poor. There wasn’t much service for Lacazette & Aubameyang as we struggled to contain the game. Sokratis took a yellow for the team when mustafi exposed us and got injured in the process too. He was replaced by Holding. We grew into the game towards the end of the half as Lacazette missed two chances but Everton were the better in all fairness as Cech kept us in the game.
Second half started in similar fashion as we looked careless. Lacazette threw us into the lead as he scored a wonder goal from nowhere as we were being dominated. It was a classy finish & he was about to be substituted. That goal totally changed the game & we looked a lot better after that as Aubameyang doubled our advantage within two minutes after some good play by him Ozil & Ramsey but it was lucky as well as the goal looked clearly offside. After that our play was confident & we looked better as a whole. Cech kept making the saves as he was our standout player & looked unbeatable. Torreira showed his impressive discipline as he completed the full game on a yellow which he got in first 15 minutes. Towards the end we had some quality moves on the counter as we looked dangerous but couldn’t get the goal. In the end 3 points are all that matters and we need to improve as well because a better team could have punished us easily. This win means we have won 5 in a row and we need to keep this run going.

Cech - 10 (MOTM)
‘Man of the Match’
Best player by a mile on the day. Kept us in the game at crucial times with top quality saves. Dominated his box well & his decision making was top notch. He showed his quality & form, even looked more comfortable with the ball. Leno will have to do something special to replace Cech in the starting eleven.
Bellerin - 7
He is getting better with games. Attacked well and kept Richarlison at bay for most of the game. One thing he has drastically improved is his crossing into the box, his crosses are threatening now & he is making full use of the license given to him by Emery to go forward.
Monreal - 7
Combined well with Xhaka & Auba on the left flank. Was a threat going forward & Theo didn’t trouble him much.
Mustafi - 5.5
Very sloppy game by the german as he kept making mistakes which on another day could have costed a goal. Put the team under pressure & Should improve.
Sokratis - 7
Was looking good and kept rectifying mistakes of his partner. Took a yellow for the team & was substituted as he got injured in the process.
Torreira - 8
Good game by Torreira and even better discipline. Was booked early on & still managed to keep his nerve for the remainder of play. Kept breaking up opposition’s attack and looked willing. Has to be one of the first names on the team.
Xhaka - 6
Made too many mistakes like mustafi in the first half. Should be more aware with his back to play & has to be fast in his decision making. Improved later on but his mistakes could have costed a goal on another day.
Ozil - 6
Struggled badly in the first half and emptied his flank way too often as he kept drifting inside. Has to do more & should show more fight. Improved towards the end and did well for our second goal.
Ramsey - 6
Got 2 assists at the end of the day but was very poor in possession. Looks erratic in that no10 role. Has to be better in upcoming games.
Aubameyang - 7
Took his goal well but was very poor in the first half along with the majority of our team. Improved in the second half and was later substituted.
Lacazette - 8
What a breathtaking goal by Lacazette to give us the lead. Wasn’t involved much in the first half but looked sharp with his touches throughout. Didn’t get the service at times but really did well whenever he was on the ball.
SUBSTITUTES:
Holding - 7
Came around 39th minute and looked sharp. Wasn’t troubled much as he had a good game.
Iwobi - 7
Another sharp display as he came on later, looked threatening on the counter.
Welbeck - 6.5
Came on later and looked good on the break.
