Why is Ozil Always ill?

In recent seasons at Arsenal, Mesut Ozil has been well known to be ineligible for playing games due to “suffering from illness”. This has frustrated many Arsenal fans over the seasons, and it only seems to become more frequent.

In my opinion, Ozil is “suffering from illness” due to high stress and maybe depression, this could be related to fan criticism and national team “bullying”, which we are all aware of. The first point of fan criticism, I have to shout from the rooftops that I am not blaming the fans at all, perhaps Mesut is just severely sensitive. Furthermore, if this is how Mesut feels, he needs to become much more thick-skinned and don't let it affect his game. I understand this may be easier said than done but if he wants to secure his ‘first-team player’ status, then he's going to have to because at the moment he certainly isn't living up to a £350K a week contract now is he? But alternatively, that could be mounting stress as he feels as if he always has to play amazing football, which let's be honest he doesn't deliver!

That status is already under huge threat, after rumours of a ‘training ground bust-up’, and you do wonder how many of these inconsistent games will Ozil play in or miss, because let's face it you can't say he's always going to perform average, and described as “going missing” in huge and crucial games. If the rumours are true about a training ground argument, even though rejected by Emery (possibly to attempt to increase squad morale), Emery will not play him and give other players chances to succeed. To those reading this thinking, Emery doesn't have the balls to make that sort of decision, look at what he did to Hatem Ben-Arfa, rejecting to play him and he didn't get a winners medal (due to lack of play time) as Emery and Ben-Arfa didn't get on!

Arsenal fans now need to approach a waiting game to see how Mesut plays and if he misses any more games. Personally, if we are going to sell him, I think we should allow him to depart to China as part of a £60 million pound deal, as I think they are truthfully the only kind of teams that would take him at the asked price and increase the reputation of the Chinese football leagues.
