In getting to know more about fellow Gooners who we all interact with with on social media, we asked Kev who runs an awesome account a few questions about his story and how he became an Arsenal fan. We hope you enjoy the read. Tez
My name is Kev Davis (Gooner Kev @kevdavis736 on Twitter).
I have been an Arsenal supporter for over 40 years (Silver Member) and I live in Essex. I started my account nearly four years ago, and like nothing more than sharing positivity to like minded Arsenal accounts. Three years ago I started learning how to create Edits and have since started an Edits Account (@GKEdits). I’ve always been creative, and find producing and creating edits very satisfying, and great way to relax.
How did you become an Arsenal fan?
Like many of us...I became an Arsenal fan as my Dad was a lifelong fan. Sadly, he passed away a few days before the start of the invincible season. To this day, I have nothing but respect and admiration for the achievements of Arsene Wenger and Arsenal that season as they were a massive part in me recovering from a dark time in my life.
Favourite Arsenal player, and why?
As with many fans, this is such difficult one with so many legends to choose from. At a push I will pick Thierry Henry mainly because of his goal contributions during the invincible season, and how much that meant to me during a difficult time.
Favourite Arsenal moment?
This is a no brainier to be honest; 15th May 2004 Arsenal 2-1 Leicester, last game of the unbeaten season. It brought a tear to my eyes, as I’m sure it did to many of us.
Arsenal's best signing?
Going by my previous answers, you would think I would say Thierry but I’m actually going to choose the great Dennis Bergkamp in 1995 for £7.5million. Along with Arsene Wenger a year later, it set the ground for some incredible years.
Arsenal's worst signing?
Difficult to answer this one, as I’m a great believer in that sometimes players on paper and in different teams look like perfect fits for the club. But just by looking at the Alexis move from Arsenal to Manchester United...it doesn’t always work out. If I have to pick one then I’m going for a squad signing rather than a marquee signing, and say Andre Santos.
Favourite player in today's team?
It’s a difficult choice again as we have such an array of talented midfielders and forwards but for pure determination grit and skills I’m choosing Alex Lacazette.
Darkest Arsenal moment?
For me it was the division between our fans over Arsene Wenger. To be honest, it made Twitter a horrible place to be. As you know I have the greatest respect for AW, and I was never in or out. Although, I do think he should of gone earlier than what he did. To this day, there are still a minority that hide behind a keyboard that believe it’s their right to troll abuse, and make decent people's lives a misery, and seeing grown men come to blows during the whole AW in/out saga was our darkest moment.
Do I see us winning any trophies this year?
Being a positive Arsenal fan, of course I do...
Obviously the league is going to be a step to far but I can see us having a run in the domestic cup competitions and Europa League.
Where do I see Arsenal in 5 years?
Well if we believe in Josh Kroenke's recent interviews then challenging for all domestic and European titles. My own personal view is to take it a season at a time, although we are heading in the correct direction at this moment in time.
£100million budget next season, who do you buy?
Based on where we stand at this moment in time, Dayot Upamecano for £70million and Dani Ceballos for £30million.
Thoughts in Stan Kroenke and the new regime?
I am over the moon with Raul and Edu. The jury is still out on Stan and Josh, and only time will tell if their hearts are truly with Arsenal's future success.
