Arsenal v Brighton - Ratings

With our usual ratings man experiencing a few technical difficulties, almost as bad as Arsenal's complete ineptness to play football, its a slightly later and less detailed look at the ratings (or lack of ratings) from Ljungberg's first home game in charge.

Another very disappointing loss saw Brighton pretty much produce the perfect away performance as they stifled an already lackluster Gunners side. Lacking all sorts of rhythm, it was no surprise that the visitors took the lead. Half time hit and Arsenal still hadn't got started. Pepe was introduced at half time and although it was only a 45 minute cameo, he has probably played himself into the starting XI for Monday. He was as lively and alert as it got.

Second half, Arsenal looked a different side for the opening 20 minutes or so and did finally score. It didn't last though and but for Alex Lacazette's goal there wasn't much else to shout about in terms of real on target chances. It was just another disaster at both ends and the misery was piled on further when the visitors grabbed the winner late on.

Not good at all. Yes, it will take time to iron out Emery's tenure for whoever ends up in charge but with the shackles truly off after the Spaniards departure, the players still haven't given the reaction. Attitude compounded when Aubameyang nipped off down the tunnel with the squits with his team desperate for an equaliser. His Head Coach wasn't even aware...it just sums up where the football club is right now.

Ratings

Bernd Leno - 7
It must be hard being a keeper behind this defence...let alone a good keeper. The German is made to suffer week in week yet is never really far off a 7 or more out of 10.

Hector Bellerin - 5
Back in the starting line up but still not a full tilt. Put in maximum effort and stuck at it well.

Sokratis - 4
Shoddy at best and erratic at worst, the big Greek just can't seem to level out with any consistency. No wonder he came on a free with no other real interest in his signature.

David Luiz - 4.5
Still yet to bring any of that so called experience that he was set to bring. Looks way off the levels needed for a centre back. CDM could be his if he wants it.

Sead Kolasinac - 5.5
Better from the Bosnian Tank who is seemingly (slowly but surely) improving the defensive side of his game. Not brilliant but not bad either.

Granit Xhaka - 6.5
Good from Granit who just looks more at home with Torreira by his side. Played to his strengths well and stuck at the shift for the full ninety.

Lucas Torreira - 6
Average again from the Uruguayan but he needs real minutes and a real run in the team now. Reliable defensively but can't keep much out with such a pony defence behind him.

Joe Willock - 4.5
Not his best by any means. He's got the talent but this was way below par which ultimately saw him hooked at the break.

Mesut Ozil - 5
Creates regardless really but actually still comes and goes, and flits in and out. Consistent levels of creativity and game control are whats needed.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang - 5
The skipper failed to deliver this week and was frankly woeful in front of goal. Need him back in form right away.

Alex Lacazette - 6
Goal scorer and probably the most lively going forward (besides Pepe). Swapped off again but put in a shift. Needs to find the net more often though

Nicolas Pepe - 6.5
On it, lively and keen to carry the ball and take players on. Did exactly what was needed but sadly couldn't make the final play pay off.

Kieran Tierney - 5
A short cameo from the Scotsman who always gets forward well. Tough in the tackle and determined, he should really be starting from here on in.

Gabriel Martinelli - 6
Keen to impress and put himself about well. Had a few sniffs at goal but really now deserves more pitch time and more chances. He's a real goal scorer.
